October is Toastmasters Month

October is Toastmasters Month in Virginia and District 66.
Carol Wieseman, District 66 Public Relations Officer, requested and received a proclamation from the Governor of Virginia declaring October 2009 Toastmasters Month.
October is the month in which Smedley founded Toastmasters International the premier Communications and Leadership Organization now with over 12,000 clubs and 25,0000 members in 106 countries. In Virginia there are nearly 306 clubs of which 139 clubs are in District 66.
Less than one week after submitting the request electronically via the Governor's website, Carol received the Proclamation in the mail. All Club VPPRs, Area Governors, Division Governors and interested Toastmasters should use this Proclamation to publicize Toastmasters and encourage special theme meetings and other special events in the month of October to encourage attendance at meetings, contests, District conference and to encourage Non-Toastmasters to experience for themselves the benefits of Toastmasters.
